Writing In addition to artworks from the show, the book benefit for the animals at the Woods Humane Society will feature the writings of local authors and dog lovers of all ages and stripes. Entries from the short and sweet (50 words in the junior writer category?) to the epic and astute (5,000 word essay, anyone?) will be heartily considered for inclusion in The Top Dog Show of SLO County Benefit Book.
Preferences Passionate, heartfelt and well-crafted writing is encouraged. Keeping in mind the holiday timing and benefit nature of the project, stories with sensitivity to families and the general audience for which this book is intended will be appreciatively published with minimal editorial interference. Younger writers, letter writers, memoirists and others who wish to communicate the special top dogginess of their canine companions are advised to rush their texts in as soon as possible! Space may be limited and texts should be sent in before the final deadline. Queries welcome.
To submit work email word documents for PC or use .rtf format from Macs to topdogshow@earthlink.net Be sure to keep copies of your work for reference and as backup - files can and do get lost.
Submission deadline is Nov 12, and writers will be notified shortly thereafter.
